Sean Anderson is a Partner and the Head of Latin America at Mintz Group, where he also manages our Mexico City office. Sean has more than 10 years of experience managing complex disputes and transactional due diligence investigations across Latin America, the United States, Canada and Europe.
Sean specializes in leading multi-jurisdictional investigations to identify leverage points against adversaries in litigation; locate and interview key witnesses; conduct sensitive internal investigations; assess the risk of engaging with new business partners; and trace assets hidden through complex offshore structures.
Recently, Sean led a sprawling investigation into embezzlement and fraud across three continents, locating documentary evidence and witnesses who could speak to executives’ illegal activity. He also investigated a potential insider threat that led to the loss of tens of millions of dollars of product in Mexico, revealing that a third party had leaked information to organized criminal groups. Sean also uncovered an ongoing money laundering scheme involving top executives at a well-known Latin American business, which led our client to abandon its planned acquisition.
Sean has helped clients recover hundreds of millions of dollars from sovereign and commercial debtors, undermined the credibility of plaintiffs in class action lawsuits whose claims collapsed under scrutiny, and revealed concealed financial links between business figures and government officials who awarded them contracts.
Certified in cryptocurrency investigations, Sean has investigated large-scale crypto thefts, frauds, and hacks exceeding nine figures. He has also identified the perpetrators behind fraudulent token projects and the misuse of companies’ intellectual property in crypto and NFT projects.
Sean is fluent in Spanish and has lived in Mexico for nearly a decade. He previously lived in Colombia on a Fulbright grant and earned an M.A. from McGill University and a B.A. from Luther College.
