Michael Karran is a Partner and industry veteran who serves as the Head of Mintz Group’s New York office. Michael provides strategic due diligence and actionable business intelligence to institutional investors and global corporations across diverse sectors, helping clients make informed decisions in complex, high-stakes environments. His client base spans private equity and venture capital firms, investment banks, pension funds, corporations, and M&A counsel, assisting at every stage of a transaction—from evaluating management teams to assessing emerging talent.
Michael is a recognized thought leader, frequently presenting at leading industry conferences, contributing to prominent publications, and featured across prominent news outlets and podcasts.
Since joining the firm in 2007, Michael has led and contributed to more than a thousand projects involving complex issues such as consumer and securities fraud, executive background checks, transaction diligence, insider trading investigations, asset tracing, and product liability disputes. His extensive experience underscores his deep expertise in managing complex, high-value engagements across multiple industries and countries. Earlier in his career, Michael honed his investigative expertise as part of Mintz Group’s computer forensics practice.

For several years beginning in 2018, Michael was based in Mintz Group’s Toronto office, where he spearheaded the integration of an acquired company, recruited and developed key talent, oversaw a team serving the firm’s largest clients, and implemented strategies to expand and streamline Canadian operations.
Michael earned a Bachelor’s degree from Queens College, where he majored in accounting and minored in economics. He also completed advanced studies at the Zicklin School of Business.
